'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the thrilling dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses amid the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a speculative shot from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess promptly hammered in the rebound before charging toward the home end to mark the goal, with fans mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an extraordinary recovery given the team had trailed 2-0 during the latter period. In the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a next round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's first-time shot from about way out going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that far out," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right defensive wing after the team changed tactics. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who praised the way the underdogs played positively.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they are adept at manage and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then without warning they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even noticing. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It demands a strong mentality and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Orient and has quickly replicated that in his new home. At his previous team he reunited with his former manager, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a spell at lower division the Manchester club, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without real physicality. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for both domestically and internationally, shining for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

It has been a remarkable path for the youngster from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, Stuart, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His sole appearance for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was sealed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he comments, chuckling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "It was quite easy, because I got to the stage where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it became apparent where I felt I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a small coach driven by team personnel, the transport team, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include a teammate, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to interact with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the following person to drive independently and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on public transport after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
